Heart Skipping Moments

“You’ll know it’s the right choice when your heart skips a beat.”

This was the advice I received from the designer when choosing my kitchen faucet. Little did she know that these words would stay with me for just about every decision I would make from that day forward.

When something stirs our hearts into action, it means something. It is a time to pause and reflect on whether we need to bring that heart action into our physical reality or if it is something that only needs to be embraced in our hearts.

I felt this heart-stirring when I read the beautiful story that inspired this book. And I’ve been lucky enough to feel it over and over as I venture forward bringing Threads of Gold to life.

Here are a few of my heart-skipping moments as the publication date comes closer into sight …

The moment I opened the attachment from Sylvia Sutliff, dear friend and brilliant graphic designer, with the book cover rendition that would eventually become the cover for this book. I could feel the meaning and thought she put into so many facets - from color and font choice to the circular thread surrounding the title to the Portuguese cross on the back, each element masterfully thought out. Amidst all this were words crafted by my daughter, Dena, for the cover design, which added that extra special secret sauce.

The moment I stepped into Hear No Evil Studio in Orange, the recording studio, where I would record my audiobook. Walking into the sound room felt like magic all wrapped up in a bow. Elliott, the owner, calmed my nerves as he showed me around and I began to visualize the process of actually narrating a book!

Talking to Nick Cass, my publishing lead, as we set my Book Release Party date in stone (Friday, June 27th) signifying the reality that this book is actually going to be published!! So many friends and family have given me courage to keep moving forward, I cannot believe it is almost here!

I pray my intentions of bringing hope and love into others’ lives unfolds, that people see the perfection God sees in them, and that heart-skipping grace fills our lives to overflowing each and every day of our lives.
